Dynamic yoga taught by Godfrey Devereux
Friday 17 May 2019: The integrity of yoga practice
10:00 – 17:30
– 1,5 hour break from 13:00 – 14:30 –
In this one-day workshop we will explore the dynamic core of yoga practice. It is open to anyone able to walk, regardless of age, capability or experience.
The morning session will consist of a guided yoga posture practice. In the afternoon you will get step by step guidance in pranayama and meditation. Both sessions will be based on tuning in to the intelligence of the body as the compass of practice. They will be linked to the enrichment of daily life based on the same compass.
Godfrey will use a refined vocabulary to guide you in these three core practices of yoga. His words will invite your mind to surrender to consciousness by way of your body. While the step by step progression of the practices will reveal and support the integrity of your body, the clarity of his instruction will clarify and quieten your mind. The simplicity of both the practice and instruction will allow this quietness and integrity to be expressed into your daily life.
Saturday 18 May 2019: A practice of integration
12:30 – 19:00
– 1 hour break from 15:30 – 16:30 –
This one-day workshop will present a complete yoga practice of integration. It is open to anyone able to run, regardless of age or experience. A practice of integration feels dynamic and energizing, rejuvenating and nourishing.
The morning session will cover a yoga practice based on salutations and standing postures. It will be sequenced to gradually and progressively sensitise, open and integrate your whole body from your feet and hands to your spine. The afternoon session will consist of a more passive yoga practice based on extensions, rotations and supine postures. It will be sequenced to gradually and progressively internalize awareness while integrating body, mind and spirit (consciousness).
Tantra yoga taught by Godfrey Devereux
Sunday 19 & Monday 20 May 2019
10:00 – 17:30
– 1,5 hour break from 13:00 – 14:30 –
The two-day workshop will explore the somatic basis of intimacy. It is open to everyone.
Intimacy is possible not only with others, but also with your self, the world and life. The overt expression of intimacy is being present to what is actually happening. The deep fruit of intimacy is erosion of boundaries that uphold the experience of separation.
In this workshop you will be guided through a series of somatic and cognitive practices. The series will invite you into a deep and nourishing intimacy with your life as it is.
These practices will present many different ways that intimacy can nourish, heal and enlighten. They will be undertaken solo, in groups and in pairs.
* There will be neither nudity nor sexual activity during this workshop, as we will be exploring the energies upon which satisfying sexual activity depends.
* You can attend the workshop by yourself and trust the constellation of the group that whenever we explore in pairs you will be working with a partner. All attendees come with the same pure intention of being the love that they are…
“I got introduced to Tantra yoga in 2017 when attending the Tantra yoga workshop at Yogashala. I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Despite what some friends would tell me and especially about nudity and sexuality that they obviously have in mind when hearing the word ‘Tantra” I went anyway. I was too curious to not go!
And I’m happy I listened to my curiousity! There was no nudity, nor sexuality involved at all. Instead we were encouraged to recognize self-respect and respect for others. The four-day Tantra workshop with Godfrey has opened inner doors to me. I became aware of what connecting to oneself and to others implies, as well as of the effect others can have on me. For someone as shy as I am, the workshop was helpful, enlightening and enriching. Tantra yoga has definitely become part of my inner growth. That’s why I decided to enrol again for the full workshop this year.” ~ with many thanks to Gwen Llorca who joined the Tantra workshops in 2017 & 2018

About Godfrey & Dynamic yoga
Godfrey has been teaching and practicing yoga for over 40 years. He has been able to cast clear light on the subtleties of yoga practice. His pioneering journey resulted in a systematic exploration of the relationship between body, mind and consciousness. Godfrey’s teachings of yoga are presented as the Dynamic Yoga Training Method which relies on the inherent intelligence of the body rather than flexibility, skill or strength. It allows anyone to enjoy a posture practice that actually can be yoga without losing touch with what makes each one of us distinct and unique.
At the heart of his teaching is a presentation of yoga as unity, rather than union. His understanding of yoga and life has been profoundly affected by professional training in Child Development and Education, Oriental Medicine and dedicated studies with masters of Zen, Advaita and Tantra as well as Indian Yoga Gurus.
Godfrey & his teachings of Tantra
“There can be no doubt that the yoga ‘community’, and the even larger community of spiritual seekers is poorly served by the sexual silence to be found in traditional and contemporary teachings. At first I also regarded yoga and tantra as two distinct, separate and even opposite, paths. Nevertheless by the time I was a professional yoga teacher I had learned powerful lessons, sexual and more subtle, from two tantric teachers. By the time I was learning from my third I had realized that yoga as we know it in the west is actually a tantric practice.
Yet it took me many more years and two more tantric teachers to realize that the way I was teaching yoga was not only implicitly, but also explicitly tantra. My last teacher insisted that I honor this truth and start finally to teach tantra openly, to help people begin to resolve the deep knots of their contorted sexual conditioning.
Given that the human body is a conditioned matrix of impulses, tendencies, memories and energies, the basis of my teaching of tantra is yoga posture practice. To me, tantra yoga initially differs from hatha yoga only in the emphasis given to the presence of pleasure and sexual energy in the body.
Then they are differentiated by partner work in meditation, communication, healing and massage. Finally perhaps they become more and more difficult to differentiate, especially as most tantric practices can be done solo, as well as with a partner.”
