Yogashala relocates to Statenkwartier

Yogashala on the move...As of 1 February we changed our location.  

We had to find a suitable new place… and we did! With the enthusiastic help and support of some yoga and art friends, we set up a new Shala. It will come to life and blossom with you!
As of 1 February all weekly classes  will take place at our new address: Ten Hovestraat 8, in Statenkwartier, around the corner from the 'Fred'.

 Dynamic yoga is an accessible and comprehen-
sive learning method which encompasses the keys to yoga posture, pranayama and meditation practice. In this 3-week course you'll be introduced to the basic principles, postures and movements to practice dynamic yoga safely, effectively and progressively. Yoga is 'fun': it is great to discover your capacities and stimulate growth and flexibility in order to feel good, physically and emotionally.

  Did you ever wonder why some (Yin) yoga poses are easy for you and some seem impossible to get into while other yogis are effortlessly enjoying them? Join us for an exploration in Yin yoga and learn how to find your perfect posture based on a functional approach of the postures. This approach applies to everyone and might hold some surprises for the bendy ones amongst you, nevertheless the more stiff people will greatly benefit from the workshop as well!

 We hope to welcome everyone who's looking for yoga classes during lunchtime! If you're working or living in Statenkwartier, Scheveningen or Archipel you can quite easily reach us for a 75 minute yoga break. Context of the classes will be a mixture of Yin yoga and dynamic based yoga which will be challenging for body and mind, but in the end will have a refreshing and quietening effect on your entire system!

We are yoga enthusiasts in heart and soul. Since the opening of our doors in 2006 the message has been clear to us, to share this passion with every visitor to Yogashala. Many of those visitors have become Yogashala yogis as yoga became a part of their lives also!

Yoga is for everyone. If this form of movement, awareness, refinement and stillness appeals to you, we offer various forms of yoga and contribute our knowledge in a direct way, full of motivation, with a down-to-earth approach. Pranayama, the training of breath, and meditation are a part of this method. Classes

 

All classes on offer at Yogashala are an invitation to investigate your very own being through yoga postures, breathing and meditation.

Yoga practice clears energy blockages in the body by increasing the flow of prana (energy), this improves the health of our organs as well as increasing our energy and promoting a general sense of wellbeing. The goal is to reach a state of relaxation of the breath and the body, which in turn invites the mind to quieten. The resulting effect is reduced physical and emotional stress through the release of tension from the body.

Men & Yoga: where are all the men???


 
 
 
 

Yoga classes in our studio are usually very well attended. Unfortunately, in most of the classes men are in the minority! As a matter of fact, a lot of men have not experienced yoga yet, and many do not know that yoga practice can enhance their strength, determination, focus and self-confidence.


Sometimes one has to climb a psychological barrier and get rid of preconceived ideas like 'yoga is for women', 'yoga is for softies', 'one has to be flexible to practice yoga'. If you think that way, you miss out on a lot of good things in life. Yoga brings a lot of benefits that can lighten up a man's life too! It helps to improve your posture, stamina and endurance, and of course your flexibility (in both body and mind). It also is of great support to enjoy life with increased body awareness, control and coordination.

Regular yoga practice develops long and strong muscles. It tones up your body and gives it a energetic and vigorous appearance. Vitality and yoga go very well together - yoga and sports is a great combination. Men - It’s high time to step up and give yoga a go!
