Yoga Encounter

All classes on offer at Yogashala are an invitation to investigate your very own being through yoga postures, breathing and meditation.

Yoga improves the health of our organs as well as increases our energy and promotes a general sense of well-being. The goal is to reach a state of relaxation of the breath and the body, which in turn invites the mind to quieten. The resulting effect is reduced physical and emotional stress through the release of tension from the body.

We truly hope that by practicing yoga with us at Yogashala, you will be able to integrate the knowledge and achievements from yoga practice into your daily life.

Trial class

Please feel welcome to attend a class for trial. This will give you an impression of a class, the style of yoga and Yogashala.

Yin yoga classes are quite easy to follow as the postures don't require a lot of instructions. For this reason, this style of yoga is certainly appropriate for beginners.

YinYang in Synergy classes require more physical effort as we accompany a series of Yin yoga postures with a series of active and strong postures including lots of movement as a special feature.

Typical of Dynamic yoga and Kundalini yoga classes is continuous attention to physical effort, coordination and breathing. We offer an introduction course Dynamic yoga every month.

You can register online or call 06 237 387 51 to reserve a place.

Ashtanga yoga classes are only accessible for those who have been taught the challenging postures of the primary series. Therefore attending this class for a trial is not an option. Everybody interested in this style of yoga is welcome to observe a class to get an impression of its context. According to the necessary number of people interested in an introduction course, a course can then be planned.

Dynamic yoga

Yin yoga & YinYang in Synergy

Dynamic yoga is an accessible and comprehensive learning method which encompasses the keys to yoga posture, pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation practice..

This method will enable you to practice yoga safely, effectively and progressively. You will be taught how to sensitise, awaken and open your body in the most direct, effective manner possible. This process is based on a clear and developed understanding of the fruitful relationship between movement and stillness, part and whole, body, mind and spirit.

Yin yoga provides the perfect contrast to the hustle and bustle of modern life. A great advantage of Yin yoga is that it brings deep stillness to body and mind.

The majority of yoga practiced in the West (Hatha yoga styles) are yang by nature as they focus on an increase of flexibility and strength of our muscles. Yin yoga, in comparison, focusses on an increase of mobility in the joints.

The practice has a passive but intense quality. Postures are held for a long period of time (2 to 7 minutes) which enables the practitioner to reach for other, and sometimes more deeply embedded, tissues in the body, in particular the connective tissue. As a result the joints in the pelvic area and the spine, in particular the lower spine and sacrum, are effected.

Yin yoga is suitable for beginners as the postures are fairly accessible and do not require a lot of the techniques. We highly advise everybody to give Yin yoga a try. Only then will you find out how you can get the most out of this "quiet practice"!

The YinYang in Synergy classes are a combination of Dynamic and Yin yoga, or Yin yoga in combination with playful 'Yang series' which are based on dance and martial arts.

Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga focuses on synchronization of asanas (postures) in flow and pranayama (breath control).

The primary series (Yoga Chikitsa) focuses on detoxification and physical fitness. Practicing the primary series requires strength and stamina and will undoubtedly make you sweat! The activation and circulation of prana (energy) in the whole of the body strengthens the nervous system while stimulating detoxification. Regular and disciplined practice of Ashtanga yoga brings steadiness of body and mind. This challenging yoga practice requires considerable effort; the resulting effect is a supple, light and strong body.

Yogashala offers an 'introduction to Ashtanga yoga' course in which you will be taught the primary series. This introduction prepares you for the attendance of Ashtanga yoga classes, selfpractice and any workshops, either taught by the Yogashala teachers or guest teachers. If you are interested in this course, please send us an email  to confirm your interest.
